70TH NCC DAY CELEBRATIONS IN LUCKNOW
WREATH LAYING CEREMONY ORGANISED AT SHAHEED SMARAK LUCKNOW

As a part of weeklong 70th NCC Day celebrations by NCC Directorate (UP) a wreath laying ceremony was organised at ‘Shaheed Smarak’, Lucknow on 26 Nov 2018. The event was planned to
commemorate the sacrifice made by Armed Forces Personnel and the freedom fighters of the country. Maj Gen A K Sapra, ADG, UP Directorate NCC was the chief Guest for the occasion.
This event was unique in a way that to pay homage to martyrs all across the UP State. cadets had brought soil from all the 75 districts of UP.
LThis was later merged by the cadets at Shaheed Smarak ceremoniously and was utilised to plant trees at the venue. The water from all the main rivers of Uttar Pradesh was brought and poured ceremoniously.
Remembering our martyrs, along with the main Jyoti 4 more Jyotis were lighted at all the 4 corners of the Memorial.
Wreath Laying at the occasion was done by the Chief Guest Maj Gen A K Sapra, ADG NCC (UP) Directorate.
Wreaths were also laid on behalf of all under officers, all ANOs, Veterans, senior under officers and H’ble Governor of UP Sh. Ram Naik.
Speaking at the occasion Maj Gen Sapra said that there are around one lakh twenty five thousand NCC cadets across the UP State. This wreath laying ceremony at Shaheed Smarak built in the memory of our Freedom Fighters is an endeavor of NCC UP directorate to connect our youth to the martyrs and their sacrifices. It will inculcate a feeling of Nationalism in our NCC cadets.
The event was attended by all NCC officers in the station, ANOs, and 150 NCC Cadets. Also present were Brig Vikram Raina, Commander of NCC Group Headquarters, Lucknow and Col Jeevan Jhande, Commanding Officer, 67 UP Bn NCC, Lucknow.
