FIELD MARSHAL SAM MANEKSHAW INTER CENTRE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The final match of the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Inter Centre Football Championship concluded with the finals being played between 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre (11 GRRC ), Lucknow and 14 Gorkha Training Centre (14 GTC), Subathu, HP. In a thrilling and a nail biting finish the home team 11 GRRC lifted the championship by defeating 14 GTC with a 2-0 lead.

Started in 1950 as “ Gorkha Brigade Cup” , the tournament was renamed as  “ Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Inter Centre Football Championship” and is an annual event conducted at Lucknow under the aegis of 11 GRRC. This year , the tournament witnessed the participation of four teams namely 11 GRRC, Lucknow, 14 Gorkha Training Centre (14 GTC), Subathu, HP, 39 Gorkha Training Centre (39 GTC) Varanasi & 58  Gorkha Training Centre (58 GTC), Shillong.

The chief guest of the final was Col SS Pundir, Offg Commandant , 11 GRRC who presented the  “ Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Inter Centre Football Championship “ trophy to the winners and also presented the medals to the Runners-Up and Winner team members.
